St Johns Boughton

Old St John’s Church, Boughton was disused in the 16th century and now stands as a romantic ruin appropriated into the designed landscape of the early 18th-century Boughton Hall. FAS Heritage were commissioned to carry out a detail historic building recording programme in advance of a repair and restoration programme. Our work included measured and photographic survey undertaken, both before and after conservation repair works creating a pre- and post-intervention record of the remains of the church. Analysis of the fabric identified a number of phases of work and has suggested a medieval layout for the church interior.
