Lincoln Cathedral

Lincoln Cathedral is the key to the city skyline and one of the great cathedrals of the world. FAS Heritage have been engaged to undertake work to mitigate the effects of reordering the Galilee Chapel. Evaluation informed the design of a new ramped entrance into the Cathedral which required porch ground level to be reduced. We undertook controlled excavation defining two in situ sarcophagus burials in advance of conservation protection during ramp construction. FAS Heritage have also completed a number of historic building assessments helping to manage change across a number of Cathedral close properties. FAS Heritage undertook a hardline survey measured survey of the Cathedral and close buildings and incorporating legacy archaeological interventions as a basis for estate-wide management.
